The Netherhall School Uniform Guide

Our school uniform is intended to be simple, smart, affordable and inclusive. It helps create a shared sense of belonging to The Netherhall School while allowing families to purchase the majority of items from retailers of their choice.

Compulsory Branded Items

There are three compulsory Netherhall-branded items:

• Polo shirt: Plain white with the Netherhall School crest.
• Jumper: Plain black V-neck jumper with the Netherhall School crest.
• PE top: Netherhall performance training top. Unisex and female-fit options are available

These are the only compulsory items that must be Netherhall-branded.

All other compulsory uniform and PE items may be purchased from any retailer, provided that they meet the descriptions below.

School Uniform

Trousers
Plain black, full-length trousers in a conventional style and fabric. They should cover the top of the shoe. Denim or denim-look trousers are not permitted. Plain black leggings may also be worn.

Skirts
Plain black, traditional pleated or A-line style, approximately mid-thigh to knee length. Denim, denim-look, stretchy tube or pencil skirts are not permitted.

Polo shirt
Plain white with the Netherhall School crest. Compulsory branded item.

Jumper
Plain black V-neck jumper with the Netherhall School crest. Compulsory branded item.

Socks
Plain black or white.

Tights
Plain black or natural, without patterns.

Shoes
Black leather or leather-look shoes with backs. Shoes should be flat or low-heeled for safety. All-black trainers may also be worn, including black soles and black laces.

PE Kit

Performance training top
Netherhall-branded performance training top. Unisex and female-fit options are available. Compulsory branded item.

Shorts
Plain navy sports or football shorts. These do not need to be Netherhall-branded and may be purchased from any retailer.

Socks
Plain navy sports socks. These do not need to be Netherhall-branded and may be purchased from any retailer.

Trainers
Suitable for indoor and outdoor physical activity.

Football boots
Suitable studded football boots for activities where these are required.

Optional PE Kit

• Netherhall Aptus ¼ zip top
• Training bottoms

Summer Uniform

During the summer term, students may wear plain navy PE shorts instead of black trousers, leggings or a skirt.

The shorts do not need to be Netherhall-branded and may be purchased from any retailer, provided they are suitable navy sports shorts.

Religious and Cultural Dress

Students may wear religious or cultural head coverings. These should normally be plain black or navy and without decorative patterns.

We recognise that individual religious or cultural requirements may require adaptations to our standard uniform. Parents and carers are welcome to contact the school so that an appropriate arrangement can be agreed.

Appearance

We want students to look smart and feel comfortable while maintaining a shared sense of belonging to the school.

• Make-up should be subtle.
• Hair should be appropriate for a school environment. We recognise and respect hairstyles associated with race, religion, culture and identity.
• Jewellery should be discreet. Hoops, dangling earrings and stretchers are not permitted.
• Coloured nail varnish and false, shellac or acrylic nails are not permitted.
• Tongue studs and ring piercings are not permitted.
• Coats, hats, gloves and outdoor scarves should be removed in classrooms and other learning spaces, including the library and ICT rooms.
• Other non-uniform tops should not be worn in classrooms.

Reasonable Adjustments

We recognise that some students may require adaptations to our uniform expectations because of disability, SEND, sensory or medical needs, religion or other individual circumstances.

Parents and carers should contact the school where an adjustment may be required. We will work with families to agree an appropriate solution that supports the individual student while maintaining the principles of our school uniform.

Affordability

We are committed to keeping the cost of school uniform as low as reasonably possible.

Only three items are required to carry Netherhall branding: the polo shirt, jumper and PE performance top. All other compulsory clothing and PE items may be purchased from any retailer, provided they meet the descriptions in this guide.
